When I turn on DirectX 9 on 12 in spice2x config I get the following error

It doesn't change even if Microsoft DirectX is installed. What is the cause?

if your macbook only supports 48khz, you have to route it through ASIO, but you forgot to set -iidxsounddevice option to asio, and -iidxasio to ASIO4ALL.

 

That being said, you're not going to have a good experience playing the game if you force audio upsampling from 44.1khz to 48khz, your game will frequently be out of sync.

 

 

Thanks for your reply.  In spice config I entered "asio" for -iidxsounddevice and "ASIO4ALL" in -iidxasio, but still getting the same result.  Attached log again.

If you look at the 3rd line in your file, you can see that none of the arguments worked (it's blank). Try again with spice2x maybe, you're using an old build of spice.

you need newest version of windows 10 or 11.

On a side note, I don't get the whole appeal of using a separate touchscreen for TDJ over the spice2x subscreen shortcut. Doesn't feel like it'd be that much faster especially when you can use your keyboard to search for songs.

If you're on 1208 and you pasted the files of 0404 to the game folder. It should work fine even if it's not labeled properly 0404 when you launch the game. If you're able to play the song, "Beyond Evolution" then that's how you know it's working.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't think that it was caused by not updating win10 due to circumstances.

Thanks for the quick response.   I'll give that plugin a try.    Just curious - where/how did you find this plugin?   Couldn't find any iidx plugins at the "official" asphyxia core plugins github so just want to know for future reference.

Hello, folks. I could use some assistance. I'm attempting to run Resident (following this guide), but I deep running into issues with the files is in the prop folder.
I made sure I changed the services section in the file, as well as clear the first 1-2 lines in case they were causing some misreading, but it seems to not be doing anything. Any help is appreciated.

you have a bunch of nvram related errors

this means you have a bad prop\avs-config.xml. One of the shared data for Resident contained many bad XML files. Such is life when dealing with leaked n-0 data.

 

edit prop\avs-config.xml and remove these lines:

 

<vfs name="boot" fstype="fs" src="D:/LDJ/contents/dev/raw" dst="/dev/raw" opt="vf=1,posix=1"/>	
<vfs name="boot" fstype="fs" src="D:/LDJ/contents/dev/nvram" dst="/dev/nvram2" opt="vf=0,posix=1"/>

 

and replace with:

 

<vfs name="boot" fstype="fs" src="dev/raw" dst="/dev/raw" opt="vf=1,posix=1"/>
<vfs name="boot" fstype="fs" src="dev/nvram" dst="/dev/nvram" opt="vf=1,posix=1"/>

 

and try again. This allows the game to create dev/raw and dev/nvram folder inside the game directory, instead of trying to create them in D:\ drive (which you might not have)

Thank you for pointing out the dev/nvram folder issues. 
The change in code seemed to fix that, but the "avs-core: failed to read config file (prop/ea3-config.xml): 0x80092202" still remains, unfortunately.

I finally got it to work!:

1. Deleted both ea3-config & avs-config files in "prop" folder
2. replaced them with default version of the files (from the "defaults" folder in the "prop" folder. if your "prop" folder does not have "defaults"  folder, search around this site or elsewhere for a link to a "defaults" .zip )

3. started up spice64.exe [make sure asphyxia is running before opening .exe] & saw the errors in the log, then edited the code (to what you recommended to) in both default files one at a time (spice64.exe -> edit/save default ea3config file -> spice64.exe ->edit/save default avs-config file -> spice64.exe) 

4. pressed the "test" button during start-up of spice64.exe (when the screen goes black) to see the test menu & adjust options as needed (such as set clock time)
5. see the game run successfully, then closed the program 
6. patched the bm2dx.dll with the .dll patchers found elsewhere, then downloaded & added patched .dll to the "modules" folder.
7. opened spice64.exe. game should be running normal now.

I'm mostly writing this so others don't struggle like I have.

just for clarification, this means It's only necessary to modify that file for like having the game connect to one's Asphyxia or turning on TDJ when you use original spicetools, but not spice2x?

I am using 1208 and thinking of updating to 0404.
However, I am not sure if asphyxia will work properly.
Do I need a patch after all?

I use translations.

It's not necessary to modify ea3-config.xml and change the<services> and <services_localstrap__type="str"> tags (step #5). Step 12 is sufficient (set the service URL in spicecfg)

 

This applies to all spicetools. For btools, it's still needed (since you don't have any way to change the service URL in btools)

 

It doesn't hurt to change it, but because the XML file is encoded in SHIFT-JIS, if you open it up in things like notepad, you can accidentally corrupt the file and make it fail to load.

From my experiences, you'll probably run into the least amount of issues starting with the Bistrover versions (especially if you want Omnimix installed as well).

At the very least, you can get familiarized with the various files/programs needed to run the game, & update to current versions more easily when there isn't any issues with the essential files.

If you're starting from a previous IIDX version like IIDX 28 OR IIDX 29, you can't simply just copy and paste IIDX 30 over them. You have to install from scratch to have a smooth experience.
