Dragon's Lair TV Show: Bug Hunt - What issues have you seen ?

8d65e2e4c6ef9962b5effbff09e2494e.png

I'm in the process of porting Poiu's DLTV to Hypseus, and have found a number of issues.

I can only see the version on archive.org currently - are there any updated versions?

https://archive.org/details/singe-dl-tv

Hopefully having fixed some of the more serious ones, I am asking if anyone has specifically seen issues with this 4 hour epic.... ?

Please message me, or post here.

On one of the early levels I used to get if you miss a move the game ignores the next moves and you can't play any more.

What is very cool, and quite clever in this game, is the fact that the movement prompt sprites are encoded into the video not the overlay.

Very well done.

Guess that makes it easier to encode, although they can't be changed if they look crappy.:P

Which version is the best to download?

I only know of one source for this MP4: https://archive.org/download/singe-dl-tv

Paired with: https://mega.nz/file/o9lACZaL#f_w2NrJyLxsST5ErwzDfOknm8t6RihjpdouvO6FNAtE

The M2V is also in the usual archive but maybe could get a better encode......

Sorry that's my fault. I tend to make them a bit long ;)

But my goal is not to have a game but also an understandable story, cause otherwise it's just a reflex thing.

I'm a bit confused, this is a DL2e.zip. In the encode text it says also DL2e.mp4 etc and there are also overlays and so forth.
Is this supposed to be? In the archive the mp4 is called dlair.mp4. Do i have to rename it to DL2e or is there a mix up?

Absolutely, I need to re-add that level. One of the first obstacles of porting from Singe 2 as I recall.

I hadn't forgotten, but wanted to get the upgraded engine and these new games sorted first.

As ever thanks for the games that run on these engines Karis...

Is there any other way to get the torrent?   I tried the posted magnet link, but it just sits there for hours retrieving data?  Is this normal?  I have so many problems with magnet links.

Thnaks for this.  I set it up last night with the Daphne games and this is pretty awesome.  Is there a third party gui or anything for this?  How do we edit settings besides controller (i saw the config file)

Great work!

Hi xxOtotOxx,

I have been messing around with your emulator and i found what I believe to be an error in your batch files.  In all of the Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair 2, and in Thayer's Quest batch files you list the framfile directory as vldp_dP instead of vldp_dl.  Let me know if there was a reaosn for this that i am missing.

I have updated the link on the first post in this thread.

I believe the Singe data is waaay out-of-date in that torrent, so ensure you grab the latest from: https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus_singe_data

If I recall, most of the content in the torrent is from this forum... does anyone know what happened to maabus's mega thread... ?

There isn't a GUI - it was written with running within Retro distribution frontends - Would be nice if some developer wrote a little GUI, but the complexity of settings in Daphne alone make it none trivial - Matt never released the source for Daphne Loader.....

So you need to edit settings in the .bat files for Daphne, or via the Service Menu '9' for Singe games.

Nope, that's not correct, although it is only a directory, I'll try and get that corrected. These should be corrected now.

hy i have a problem is there any video to setup this games hypseus singe?

Here is a basic tutorial for setting up Hypseus, you can use this as reference for all other games.

Am 8.8.2021 um 01:22 schrieb xxOToTOxx:

Hey, so quick Windows install:

  1. Download Hypseus Singe https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus-singe/releases, and put the contents of the zip file into it's own directory. e.g. 'C:\Hypsesus Singe'
  2. Copy your existing Daphne ROM files (.zip) into the 'roms' sub-directory of Hypseus, exactly as you would in Daphne.
  3. Copy (or move) your video and framefiles into the sub-directory of Hypseus. This is up to you, but usually 'vldp' with a subdirectory of the game name:

C:\Hypseus Singe
|
+-- vldp
|    |
|    |-- roadblaster
|    |    |
|    |    |-- roadblaster.txt  (Frame file)
|    |    |-- rb.m2v
|    |    |-- rb.ogg
| | |-- rb.dat (Don't copy .dat file from Daphne - it will be re-created)
|
+-- roms
     |-- roadblaster.zip (ROM file)

This will give you the ability to run Hypseus with the original ROM video.

  • Within C:\Hypseus Singe create a roadblaster.bat file with the following contents:

hypseus.exe roadblaster vldp -framefile vldp/roadblaster/roadblaster.txt -nolinear_scale -fullscreen

PAUSE
  • Run the batch file and check it works. (You can move other games in exactly the same way. Copy .bat file arguments from Daphne to the Hypseus .bat file you create.)

If all is good, let's put the 4K video in place.

  1. Within C:\Hypsuse Singe\vldp\roadblaster - rename rb.m2v to rb-orig.m2v
  2. Grab the 4K version of rb.m2v from https://mega.nz/file/18liQTiJ#526tBpn5iPLxoKgoadD84GsM6XjqIqcz9BXRJNnKCBM
  3. Place the 4K video as C:\Hypseus Singe\vldp\roadblaste\rb.m2v replacing original file name and location.

You should not need to alter your bat file if running version 2.6.12, otherwise alter -x and -y  to:

hypseus.exe roadblaster vldp -framefile vldp/roadblaster/roadblaster.txt -nolinear_scale -x 2880 -y 2160 -fullscreen
  • And you are done. Run the bat file, you should see it recreate the .dat file and load 4K video.

Windows Template for Road Blaster excluding 4K video: https://mega.nz/folder/t082hTgT#J9NiuIB9bl2pYSbj-jrjnQ

Footnote: There are other (optional) Hypseus arguments you can pass that did not exist in the original Daphne to add to the .bat file.

Check them out here: https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus-singe#extended-arguments-and-keys

I would recommend to download hypseus and all other necessary files from the first page of this thread, since this tuto is some months old and hypseus has been updated several times since then.

Give it a try and see if you can get it working, if you have any problems, feel free to ask. ;)

There is no video I'm afraid.

If there were, it would show:

  • Unzip `Hypseus.Singe-v2.8.x-win64.zip` and `windows-batch-files-v2.8.x.zip`
  • Obtain and put game data in the sub folders
  • Run, perhaps edit, the .bat file
  • Enjoy game

Or install via RetroPie-Setup if Linux is your thing, that's all done for you.

As a few people have recently asked about ActionMax games, I will post here regarding the Hypseus setup.

The original directory layout of ActionMax, being one of (if not the) first Singe game, was a little different to the others...

For the Libretro structure setup, used on RetroPie and others, the directory structure was simplified.

Within the `singe` subfolder, `singe\actionmax` folder looks like this:

actionmax.png

Then Hypseus can be run simply with this argument (e.g. 38ambushalley) :

hypseus.exe singe vldp -framefile singe\actionmax\38ambushalley.txt -script singe\actionmax\38ambushalley.singe -fullscreen -manymouse

This singe file structure is on the Hypseus repos in GitHub (for which you will just need to copy the your existing video/audio over).

There are also .bat files for ActionMax in the zip with the Hypseus Windows package on the main repo.

There is a new joystick configuration utility for Hypseus 'hypinput.ini'

https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypjsch

https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypjsch/releases/latest

hypjsch.png

Add the .exe it to the Hypseus folder.

Run it (with your joysticks connected) and it gives you the calculated axis/button arguments to add to the config file across multiple detected joysticks. No more +1's......

Note: There was a bug in an early version which would make the utility crash if the reported Joystick name was excessively long. Ensure you grab the latest version for the fix.
