Good morning all

It had been years since I had run an emulator on the computer and I literally spent a whole day trying to get FFBPlugin to work on the last MAMEUI64 (the 226 I remember).

I wanted to use a UI version for its comfort and its options which make it possible to avoid tampering with .ini in all directions.

I am using Windows 7 64bits

I only play car games on this PC with a G29

I managed to run SCUD RACE and DAYTONA 2 in fullHD thanks to Supermodel.

I managed to configure TEKNOPARROT to play OUTRUN 2, DAYTONA 3, SEGA RALLY 3 etc ... and FFBPlugin works well with this emu.

And so, I was at MAME. And I ended up succeeding in making this damn FFBPlugin work by falling back on the last official version of MAME.

MY QUESTIONS :

Why does FFBPlugin work well on the official MAME and not on the UI?

If I am forced to stay on this official version, how do we get the games to 1920/1080?

How to add shaders that are not offered as standard? Just by copying and pasting the one you want in the shader folder?

I would like nice Scanlines, but the filter MAME offers is not tip top.

In short, the coolest thing would be if FFBPlugin works on the UI version of MAME, so I would have easy access to all these options via the menus.

Can you help me please?

thank you and happy holidays to all

Hello

I am the developer of FFB Plugin. FFB Plugin works perfectly fine with mame ui as I test on it often

You will have setting set up incorrectly. Most likely it's the mame.ini file I would think

Thank you Boomslangnz for your advice. Indeed, the problem came from the fact that on MAMEUI64, it is not enough to create the .ini file by putting OSD OUTPUT ... at the root next to the .exe, but it must be done in each .ini file of each game in the INI folder containing all the games launched. It was all stupid but you had to know it.
So, it works! :-)

But suddenly I have another question:

In what order must the different steps be carried out for the FFB to be functional?
Because I still haven't understood why sometimes the FFB is well taken care of and sometimes not.

example:

1: I run MAMEUI64.exe
2: I run FFBPlugin
3: I select Virtua Racing from the list of supported games
4: I quit and I close FFBPlugin
5: I launch Virtua Racing

its good?

But when I want to change the game and switch to Rave Racer for example, I waste a lot of time because I try different order of execution of the steps and I can't identify which is the right sequence to make it work.

Do you have to completely quit MAMEUI64 and restart it to follow the sequence described for virtua racing in order to have the FFB on Rave Racer?

thank you again for this creation!

You don't have to select games in FFBPluginGUI.exe etc, that is just the settings if you want to modify strength etc

You should be able to just run the games fine after the initial setup selecting device etc

okay. So here is my test feedback:

It is not necessary to go to open the FFBPlugin.ini before playing to have the force feedback activated (except the very first time to select your wheel in the device list).
But on the other hand, if I leave the game, the next one will not have a force feedback. For example, if I switch from Rave Racer to Virtua Racing.

If I want to play with force feedback enabled on all compatible games, the only option I have (for now) is to quit MAMEUI64 entirely and relaunch it when I want to switch games.

which is not a big deal either.

Thanks again for your work
