Hello, I don't know if you can ask here, but I would like to know if there is a possibility or if there is any news about the emulation of zorton brothers and marbella vice. I would like to see them someday emulated in Singe 2.

Hello Everyone,

 

So time for a new update (3.32). This is a tiny one with minor bug corrections (2 player mode, if you die on the first move and a problem with maps starting at 0) but also 2 (or 3) new moves for designers :

 

MULTI will allow a repeated action (for example you need to hit LEFT 5 times during the time of the move). It is dynamic, meaning that at the start of the move you'll see 5 left arrows, and each time you hit LEFT one arrow is removed. Of course LEFT 5 is just an example, and you can define any button or direction and any number.

 

LOOPLEFT and LOOPRIGHT will require to do a full circle (counterclockwise or clockwise) with the stick. In order to be played on keyboard too, diagonals are not really checked, but (same case as run) you can also replace this move with a simple HOLD in the menu.

Hi @Karis thanks for the new update. What was updated? lol Is it just me or the timing sequences are now less forgiving? It seems the moves that need timing (waiting some seconds) are now harder. I died tons of times on the Dragon's Lair fire ropes! lol

Thanks for all of the great work Karis!   Just a quick question.  Is the extra lives setting still anywhere in DL2E?   I cannot seem to find it in the settings menu at all.

There's just another bonus sequence somewhere in DL2e (and of course the new moves)

So, a bit of history

 

The first version i released was very close to the adavnced rom (maybe 99%).

But on the other hand, the game was stuck in version 2.12 meaning that some imrovements i introduced later (extra playing modes or 2 player game for example) were not included.

So at some point i decided to unify the game with the rest of the bunch. This means that the new version has now all the improvements, but is only 95% of the advanced roms, meaning that the most impotant features (like the advanced object collection) are there but i also had to let go some (mainly the 'difficulty setiing' stuff).

That said, extra lifes are still there. Actually it's 70.000 points (which was the mean). But you can still change this value by editing the dl2e.singe file (line 39).

 

I believe it's best of both world since, sincerely, unification brought way more than i had to remove.

Actually i have one since i use it, but it's made specifically for the theme i use (don't know if it'll work for other themes).

 

That said, each game has an Assets dir which includes most of the files you need for lauchbox.

Not impossible, but not easy for shooting games.

First because we need a source, and also because for shooting game you need the hitboxes (recreating them by hand would be a nightmare).

Thanks for the response.  I figured it had to do with the upgrade to 3.2.   But I have noticed that even though dl2e.singe is set to 70000 for extra lives, you actually do not get an extra life at all.  Oh well, continues being available make up for it!

 

One more question,  Is there any way to disable the exit menu that comes up when ESC is hit.  I have this in a arcade cab and I have an exit game button that I would like to send the player right back to the frontend

 Yes. This has to do with the controls.cfg (which sets the keys for each action). You can swap the values of INPUT_QUIT (which is the old one, with direct exit) and INPUT CONSOLE (which is how i intercept it and insert the menu)

 

Another (quicker) way is to link your exit button to the key that is configured for INPUT_QUIT and you will exit directly.

So, my bad, there was a syntax error in the code for Extra Lives.

 

It's a minor correction so you can just download the main.singe (named it 3.32a) and place it in Singe/Singe/Script:

Sorry still no luck here.  I updated the main.singe with the replacement and played the game up to around 100000 points on normal.  No extra lives at all.  I do not see a addons.singe script anywhere so maybe that is the issue.  Was that part of the latest singe download from page 1?

 

Update:  I found the addons.singe file in the DL2E directory and it appears to be correct to me.

As you guessed addons is per game. It allows me to add special rules for one game without affecting the other.

 

First let's check your download (cause sometimes there are problems with Mega).

 

On the first lines of main.singe you should read 3.32a

 

Second i'll say maybe the conditions:

 

To earn an additional life, there are several conditions :

 

- Scoring more than required (ok, you've got this one)

- Game Type : Normal (probably, you'vee got this one too). Logical because we don't want to award extra lives in Life bar mode (at least not this way) Percent or Survivor mode.

- At least one life lost (maybe the problem is there): you can't (at least for now) have more life than the starting value.

 

So if you start with 5 lives, do not die and score 50000, nothing happens. That's how it was designed because in some games, the bonus is calculated with lost lives and having more life at the end than at the start might cause troubles.

 

If you want to test this fast, change the 50000 value in the file you showed above to 5000 (or even less), lose a life early and then score 5000: you will hear a special sound and your life should come back (or at least it woks here).

The one life lost is what it was!  I did the change the value to 5000 test and it is working.  I was also used to the extra life sound from version 2.x and this sound is far more subtle so I was not noticing it.

 

Looks like everything works perfectly now.  Thanks for all of your efforts!

The HD version of Space Pirates crashes Singe. However, the 480 version works fine. Also, my wireless Xbox-1 controller doesn't work in Singe 2.0 even though Singe shows an Xbox controller during the game attract modes. Could someone tell me how to set my controller up? TIA.

Hello, I can play a number of these games including DL2e, but I can't get DLe to start. When starting it I see a quick flash of white and then nothing. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Anyone having problems with the HD version download of Who Shot Johnny Rock crashing and freezing up your computer when the download transfers from Mega to your downloads folder? I've tried downloading it multiple times and it always crashes my computer forcing me to do a hard restart. The 480p version works great.

When you unzip it, are you selecting "extract files here" instead of "extract files"? If you choose "extract files" it unzips to a folder within a folder and the game won't run. Also. make sure you put the game folder in the main Singe folder as well.

There's seem to be an issue with the menu from what I can tell.  For some reason, when I try to do anything in it, it either crashes or freezes completely.  I assume it has to do with some of the games causing it, but I don't know which ones.  Anyone know what's happening?

Hey Karis, thanks again for putting all this together. 

 

Quick question. I have a 4K screen and I'm trying to run the games without the black bars on the sides. I've tried -u, -x 3840 -y 2160. Both of those options do not allow the video to stretch to fill the screen. Is there something else I should be doing?

I downloaded the games from the first post and have a question.  How do you get games like dragons lair enhanced, dragons lair 2 enhanced, space ace enhanced to work?  I put the folders where the rest of my singe games are but they do not show up on the menu.   It might have been answered in this thread at some point and if so I apoligize, 34 pages is a lot to go through and I did not see it in my skimming of all the messages.

Hey Karis est ce que tu as rencontré ce bug avec singe 2,lorsque je joue avec mon mini clavier tout est nickel par contre quand jessaie de jouer avec le joystick avant meme que certain moves apparait a l'écran pour que j'appuie  on entend le bip d'echec du move donc non jouable mais ca ne fait aucun sens le joystick est parfait pour tout les autres jeux du pc steam etc mais singe 2 il y a ce bug c'est comme si que lorsque le singe 2 detect que j'utilise le joystick c'est la les problemes commencent,as tu une idée ce qui pourait causer ca,ca ne fait aucun sens en passant je n'utilise pas joytokey.
