Thanks for the patch, but those videos are not detected (the background is black, I tried renaming the a20 so as not to have the black background and if they work, don't you have other a20plus videos? Thank you very much in advance for your time.

VIDEO CODECS: https://files3.codecguide.com/K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1640_Full.exe for black screen

PS: DONT RENAME IT, DOWNLOAD AND PASTE, READY TO USE

Oh i see what you mean. what server are you using? if butterfly, then go to https://gate.eamuse.network

Im not currently on butterfly.

I see in the hex cheat sheet that it recommends using butterfly.  I havent had the patience yet to set it up yet.

Anyone able to get this working "offline"?

edit: oooh for the gold cab you need the correct bga , you have to look for it in this thread

@carlosgordon1970

When editing offset = 0x1D330  and change 69 to X number, does it only go in intervals of some number?  Because when editing it down to 11 lets say, my fast/slow doesn't seem to change hardly and I'm staying on the same song to keep it controlled.  My fast/slow also doesn't change when I change it to 89 either again on the same song to keep it controlled. Something else to note is that my marv/perf counts are similar across the board on all types of number settings???

I am running 2020 data with the latest version of butterfly.

Has anyone discovered a reliable way to save scores when you are using the hexedit that keeps the game on first stage forever?  It used to save the scores themselves where the top world score would display even if it didn't save on the profile.  But now nothing saves I can play 30 songs and they're all gone.

When I exit the game I choose a nonstop course because I'm using gold cab mode which then fails me out of the game.  When it is trying to save the emus data it does say your data may not have been saved.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to run this hexedit and exit the game in a way that saves the scores?

Thanks, I am on v5 AIO.  So should I be running on 2020072800? So it may change?

Asking because it seems in gold cab timing is significantly off and I cant seem to find a spot where timing seems to be right on.

2020072800 the offset works fine in that build :) and you can use butterfly

Maybe I'm just off in general.  I haven't played on any DDR X and up machines in real life.  I have 2 Extreme J cabs and 1 Supernova J cab in my garage and the timing just seems so much different than when I hook up my arcade pad and play on A20+ it feels very...very different.

After reverting back to blue cab, I found the timing to be more consistent.  But it seems maybe the timing windows may have been tightened up since old DDR machines?

Anyway I think I've got the timing close now on gold cab and blue cab comparison.

Posté(e)

Ok after doing a bit of homework.

Switching back to stepmania after I had been playing blue cab a20+...Timing still feels very different.

Can anyone confirm whether or not that Stepmania timing is different than the A20+ timing? Is this normal?

Posté(e)

To enable Force darkest background on 2021-08-04 you have to hex edit at 0xa791e. Either the DDR Hex Edit Compilation Excel document is wrong or we're using a weird different version of the game, because none of the codes for Force Darkest Background worked, but the other codes work.

I had to figure this out on my own by looking through the gamemdx.dll for every instance of the Off hexcode and change them to On, one by one. Some of them would cause the game not to open, some would crash on loading a song, and some would force different options like Wave or Hidden+. It's meticulous but should help in finding hexcodes for different versions. Hopefully this info helps.

Hello,

In a world where all of this hard work is purely voluntary (i.e. "I have a life, I have a family, I have a job too"), only kind words are what one would consider "fruits of labor" and hearing/reading them feels so rewarding.

Butterfly (our fork) has gone a long way. What initially started out as an individual project (a.k.a. "topet's butterfly"), eventually became a small group's project. On that note, this small group of individuals do not look at, nor weigh, their contributions in the quantitative sense. The fact of the matter is, there is mutual dependency in the contributions that went into (our fork of) butterfly in its current state, such that a missing piece/contribution by any single one in this group couldn't have made butterfly "whole" all by himself. In this sense, our contributions are weighted qualitatively and hence, as I personally see it, all are equal and therefore all individuals in this small group have equal stake for decisions involving this fork of butterfly.

These are the people who have helped make butterfly what it is today: @tw3nz0r @bman @Towlesy27 @Sirk @One Eternal Ash @kanor

And of course, @skogaby who is the original author of butterfly. I've only had a chance to talk to him a few times and learn a thing or two. But that simple act is what enabled and fueled me to embark on this journey.

This decision to (hopefully, momentarily) stop openly supporting the use of butterfly with DDR Arcade (Ripped) Data is a very painful decision, at least for me personally, because - and again, this is in no way undermining the group that made it for what it is today - the fact remains that it started as an individual person's project. As such I would almost say that this is my "baby" project. And as "small" of a project as it may be in the eyes of the more technically inclined, I unfortunately was "technically handicapped" throughout this entire journey, so whatever "little achievement" you can see (from the eyes of a technical person) is actually a milestone and a source of pride for me.

I am not about to be hypocritical about all of this because at the end of the day we know what "THIS" is. Do know that I personally took it with a heavy heart to make this decision. But I think, for the preservation of the greater good who will and should benefit in the long run, I believe that this decision has to be made.

Out of my love for the work that has been done, and out of consideration for the many others who try their best to help with the sustainability of making this game available, I am going to release a "final goodbye" public build (hopefully, goodbye only for now). This build is enough to last you up to any 2020-dated package, and will cease to fully function when the 2021-dated packages are leaked to the public (or when you use our butterfly fork on any 2021-dated builds).

In the meantime, you may use other 3rd-party online servers which provide the essentials for enjoying the game (score saving/tracking, score rivalry, force-unlocking of all songs, etc.). It is unfortunate that we had to (again, hopefully momentarily) stop making public builds since our fork of butterfly, although primarily envisioned for offline use, offers a very rich level of support and experience for DDR that goes the extra mile, in fact way beyond the essentials. Nonetheless, I have huge respect for all the maintainers/owners of the 3rd-party online servers. Putting up a server to function online where there a lot of users is in fact a stressful thing to do (on top of the fact this is purely voluntary plus volunteering material and non-material resources to maintain it). I am amazed at not only your work, but also your dedication for doing this. I am a patron of some of these 3rd-party servers too.

I personally hope that things will eventually turn out for the better because I am still very excited in helping others as you have seen me do. Let us hope for the best and make this a learning lesson as we move forward.

Another oddity last night I discovered.  I haven't setup butterfly, yet there's scores saved already?

How am I seeing other peoples scores if I'm not on any type of server?

Both blue and gold

Are you asking to fix the offset timing to be like stepmania?

Because DDR timing is completely different from stepmania timing.

I found this out the hard way.  So if your interested in getting timing like what would be on stepmania it wont be, because the 2 timing systems are completely different.

I thought the timing was off as well, come to find out that I'm accustomed to playing ITG/stepmania timing which just isn't the same.  DDR uses frame based timing where stepmania timing is in milliseconds.  If you do the math though, the timing windows on DDR are naturally tighter.  SO it may seem as if your doing worse than you would playing stepmania/ITG, but its just an off adjustment to timing from game to game.  Timing is what really is the sauce flavor of each game.

I was referring in fact to the offset that both blue and gold arcades handle by default

Blue seems fine to me, but I'm not certain about golds timing yet.  I've just been playing on blue because the timing seemed correct.

Are you certain that you are running butterfly and not actually connected to any other 3rd-party online network/server?

I have just tested by playing a song in the 1st Stage that didn't have a score yet, and then exiting the game, and then restarting the game. I can see that my score was saved. Butterfly is capable of saving scores mid-game. This capability depends on how the network/server was "written" (or coded/programmed). If it wasn't programmed to save scores mid-game then it won't; if it was programmed to do so, then it will (like butterfly).

Forgive me for late reply.

Turns out I am having the "play data may not have saved properly" error message even without keep stage on.

I must have done something wrong in going from 20200317 to 20200728 when it came to butterfly.sqlite file, or made some kind of change to the butterfly.sqlite database that the 0728 data doesn't like.  Can't think why it's not able to update everything.

To determine/test your assumption:

  1. Delete/move/rename your current database file (butterfly.sqlite)
  2. Run butterfly again so that it generates a totally new database
  3. Restart the game and play only the first stage (clear the song!) and exit the game
  4. Restart the game and go back to that song to check if your score from your previous attempt/game was actually saved

It was not saved.  The profile was saved, but went to the tutorial and then the song had no score.
