I succeeded in extracting the umum from 2014 and putting it in.
I also added a jacket.
The song plays well.
but
Failed to insert thumbnail.

If you create a thumbnail and create an ARC file, the game will not run.

Boots for the first time like an attachment and forces the game to end on the black screen.
How do we solve this?

you must open the corresponding thumbnail, add the graphic and add the line in names.txt, rejoin the arc and replace the file in thumbnails

Just wanted to say this is ridiculously awesome.

 

SpiceTools works - the FAQ answered all questions - clean notes for implementation.

 

With regards to the keypad, I just ordered a number keypad for this function and read up on the SpiceCompanion app. It does everything you’d want...

 

A few questions:

 

1. Is the Discord still active? Joined, but no messages can load. Wondering if this is the only way to communicate.

2. Is this actual DDR? Or a rip running in an app that supports the content? It all works, I’m just curious from a technical perspective.

3. How often is new data put out there? Every major version? I’m getting the impression that it’s now DDR-as-a-Service, with semi-regular patches and song adds. Is that the case?

Hello! can somebody help me?

but after copying and editing "ea3-config.xml" this error appears.

the file was on the folder. i tried deleting it and the game seems to work just fine lmao.
just tried following the same steps but on "eamuse-config.xml" to get e-amusement  online and just worked lol, if i'm doing something wrong please tell me.

Hello,

 

In a world where all of this hard work is purely voluntary (i.e. "I have a life, I have a family, I have a job too"), only kind words are what one would consider "fruits of labor" and hearing/reading them feels so rewarding.

 

Butterfly (our fork) has gone a long way. What initially started out as an individual project (a.k.a. "topet's butterfly"), eventually became a small group's project. On that note, this small group of individuals do not look at, nor weigh, their contributions in the quantitative sense. The fact of the matter is, there is mutual dependency in the contributions that went into (our fork of) butterfly in its current state, such that a missing piece/contribution by any single one in this group couldn't have made butterfly "whole" all by himself. In this sense, our contributions are weighted qualitatively and hence, as I personally see it, all are equal and therefore all individuals in this small group have equal stake for decisions involving this fork of butterfly.

 

These are the people who have helped make butterfly what it is today: @tw3nz0r @bman @Towlesy27 @Sirk @One Eternal Ash @kanor

 

And of course, @skogaby who is the original author of butterfly. I've only had a chance to talk to him a few times and learn a thing or two. But that simple act is what enabled and fueled me to embark on this journey.

 

This decision to (hopefully, momentarily) stop openly supporting the use of butterfly with DDR Arcade (Ripped) Data is a very painful decision, at least for me personally, because - and again, this is in no way undermining the group that made it for what it is today - the fact remains that it started as an individual person's project. As such I would almost say that this is my "baby" project. And as "small" of a project as it may be in the eyes of the more technically inclined, I unfortunately was "technically handicapped" throughout this entire journey, so whatever "little achievement" you can see (from the eyes of a technical person) is actually a milestone and a source of pride for me.

 

I am not about to be hypocritical about all of this because at the end of the day we know what "THIS" is. Do know that I personally took it with a heavy heart to make this decision. But I think, for the preservation of the greater good who will and should benefit in the long run, I believe that this decision has to be made.

 

Out of my love for the work that has been done, and out of consideration for the many others who try their best to help with the sustainability of making this game available, I am going to release a "final goodbye" public build (hopefully, goodbye only for now). This build is enough to last you up to any 2020-dated package, and will cease to fully function when the 2021-dated packages are leaked to the public (or when you use our butterfly fork on any 2021-dated builds).

 

In the meantime, you may use other 3rd-party online servers which provide the essentials for enjoying the game (score saving/tracking, score rivalry, force-unlocking of all songs, etc.). It is unfortunate that we had to (again, hopefully momentarily) stop making public builds since our fork of butterfly, although primarily envisioned for offline use, offers a very rich level of support and experience for DDR that goes the extra mile, in fact way beyond the essentials. Nonetheless, I have huge respect for all the maintainers/owners of the 3rd-party online servers. Putting up a server to function online where there a lot of users is in fact a stressful thing to do (on top of the fact this is purely voluntary plus volunteering material and non-material resources to maintain it). Are these cards regular HID-style cards? Can I just write the ID line to it and then scan and have it work for that function? Or is it a special type of card needed.

I realize this is probably completely excessive as this is just in my home for myself but I really want to go full experience. Would you have any info/experience with that piece?

On that note, this small group of individuals do not look at, nor weigh, their contributions in the quantitative sense. The fact of the matter is, there is mutual dependency in the contributions that went into (our fork of) butterfly in its current state, such that a missing piece/contribution by any single one in this group couldn't have made butterfly "whole" all by himself. In this sense, our contributions are weighted qualitatively and hence, as I personally see it, all are equal and therefore all individuals in this small group have equal stake for decisions involving this fork of butterfly.

 

These are the people who have helped make butterfly what it is today: @tw3nz0r @bman @Towlesy27 @Sirk @One Eternal Ash @kanor

 

And of course, @skogaby who is the original author of butterfly. I've only had a chance to talk to him a few times and learn a thing or two. But that simple act is what enabled and fueled me to embark on this journey.

And as "small" of a project as it may be in the eyes of the more technically inclined, I unfortunately was "technically handicapped" throughout this entire journey, so whatever "little achievement" you can see (from the eyes of a technical person) is actually a milestone and a source of pride for me.

 

I am not about to be hypocritical about all of this because at the end of the day we know what "THIS" is. Do know that I personally took it with a heavy heart to make this decision. But I think, for the preservation of the greater good who will and should benefit in the long run, I believe that this decision has to be made.

 

Out of my love for the work that has been done, and out of consideration for the many others who try their best to help with the sustainability of making this game available, I am going to release a "final goodbye" public build (hopefully, goodbye only for now). This build is enough to last you up to any 2020-dated package, and will cease to fully function when the 2021-dated packages are leaked to the public (or when you use our butterfly fork on any 2021-dated builds).

 

In the meantime, you may use other 3rd-party online servers which provide the essentials for enjoying the game (score saving/tracking, score rivalry, force-unlocking of all songs, etc.). It is unfortunate that we had to (again, hopefully momentarily) stop making public builds since our fork of butterfly, although primarily envisioned for offline use, offers a very rich level of support and experience for DDR that goes the extra mile, in fact way beyond the essentials. Nonetheless, I have huge respect for all the maintainers/owners of the 3rd-party online servers. Putting up a server to function online where there a lot of users is in fact a stressful thing to do (on top of the fact this is purely voluntary plus volunteering material and non-material resources to maintain it). I am amazed at not only your work, but also your dedication for doing this. I am a patron of some of these 3rd-party servers too.

I believe the format is 16 digits but there is a specific range of numbers/letters that can be used. I think it's A to F for letters and 0 to 9 for numbers, I just can't remember. I think it was mentioned in the old DDR A20 thread.


Or to make it easier for you, in Spice Configuration, generate a "card." It will be saved as card0.txt or card1.txt. Open those files and use those letters/numbers. Generate again if you want to make more cards. :)

 

Ahh gotcha. I'm just thinking maybe I need to play with a USB/NFC scanner to prompt it to press the 'virtual card' button? Since that seems to be the trigger with a card loaded. Except it would need to be on the machine.

Totally understood on e-Amusement identity not being the same as on official.

 

What would you think would be most sensible? Get an E-Amusement card, modify my local ID to match new and then use an NFC scanner? Or go HID-style swipe card?

Also do you know if E-Amusement is anything special or just regular NFC?

I live in Asia region so usage of e-Amusement cards is pretty common here. So if I were to answer that question my answer would be to use an e-Amusement card. :) Less expenditure too since it can be used for both the official DDR machine and here with SpiceCompanion.

I think e-Amusement is just regular NFC. My phone's NFC reader is able to detect it whenever I use it on SpiceCompanion.

 

Yep! I have been doing it virtually with SpiceCompanion and it is cool but a few extra steps to take out phone and press 'Insert Card' when I can theoretically just swipe something/put a chip to a reader.

 

I think I will try contactless NFC - will try first with regular card but will then have option for e-Amusements.

Without physical card: the caveat here is that the game only recognizes whatever "card number" is written in card0.txt (for Player 1 side) and/or card1.txt (for Player 2 side). With physical card: SpiceCompanion dynamically "adds" as many new cards that you register on it so this is the behavior closest to the arcade/official DDR. Ahh gotcha. That is how I'm currently using it - have a few cards installed in the app and then select the card/select the proper player and then select 'Insert Card' and it works. It even works with the app on multiple devices using the same ID's!

So I will try adding multiple ID's with Spice Companion app and then scanning a card on the reader. I will test. 

 

I know that SpiceCompanion emulates the 'swipe' and am really curious to see what happens with a real swipe. Will reply back with findings!

You need to abbreviate the song as the same abreviattion in song.db, don't use summ because this is the abreviattion of "my summer love", create another like (summ4, summy).

 

The wav files in xact need to be the same quality as the tutorial, maybe is this.

And of course, @skogaby who is the original author of butterfly. I've only had a chance to talk to him a few times and learn a thing or two. But that simple act is what enabled and fueled me to embark on this journey.

 

This decision to (hopefully, momentarily) stop openly supporting the use of butterfly with DDR Arcade (Ripped) Data is a very painful decision, at least for me personally, because - and again, this is in no way undermining the group that made it for what it is today - the fact remains that it started as an individual person's project. As such I would almost say that this is my "baby" project. And as "small" of a project as it may be in the eyes of the more technically inclined, I unfortunately was "technically handicapped" throughout this entire journey, so whatever "little achievement" you can see (from the eyes of a technical person) is actually a milestone and a source of pride for me.

 

I am not about to be hypocritical about all of this because at the end of the day we know what "THIS" is. Do know that I personally took it with a heavy heart to make this decision. But I think, for the preservation of the greater good who will and should benefit in the long run, I believe that this decision has to be made.

 

Out of my love for the work that has been done, and out of consideration for the many others who try their best to help with the sustainability of making this game available, I am going to release a "final goodbye" public build (hopefully, goodbye only for now). This build is enough to last you up to any 2020-dated package, and will cease to fully function when the 2021-dated packages are leaked to the public (or when you use our butterfly fork on any 2021-dated builds).

 

In the meantime, you may use other 3rd-party online servers which provide the essentials for enjoying the game (score saving/tracking, score rivalry, force-unlocking of all songs, etc.). It is unfortunate that we had to (again, hopefully momentarily) stop making public builds since our fork of butterfly, although primarily envisioned for offline use, offers a very rich level of support and experience for DDR that goes the extra mile, in fact way beyond the essentials. Nonetheless, I have huge respect for all the maintainers/owners of the 3rd-party online servers. Putting up a server to function online where there a lot of users is in fact a stressful thing to do (on top of the fact this is purely voluntary plus volunteering material and non-material resources to maintain it). I am amazed at not only your work, but also your dedication for doing this. I am a patron of some of these 3rd-party servers too.

 

I personally hope that things will eventually turn out for the better because I am still very excited in helping others as you have seen me do. Let us hope for the best and make this a learning lesson as we move forward.

Was there ever any consensus on if the timing adjustment hex edits (0x01D2A0 or whatever) work in blue cab mode? or gold cab mode only?

 

I just got this all set up on my CRT Extreme J-Cab and it feels like I have to hit the arrows too early, but I also read that gold cab mode does not play nicely with SD mode.
