No  but Garfield tried it, it seems mapping of menu buttons is still unavailable

 

For those Who are using a steering wheel, how is it ?

Just to be clear : with a DIRECT INPUT wheel, you can map START and VIEW buttons, but not the arrow keys, even in segatools V003. 

 

With XInput device (xbox360 controller) , you don't have to change input mapping, these keys are hardcoded to the D-PAD.

Thank you man, just one thing i don't understand : when you choose direct input wheel, can you use the arrow keys on the keyboard in order to move in menus, or is it just impossible ?

just impossible, I tried every key on my keyboard, only keys 1 ( test), 2 (service) and ENTER (simulates NFC card reading) are working.

Updated Minime to version 8 and segatools to version 3

At the end of a race i got a error, need to restart / reboot

It (tried) to safe  saved and eventually during the race review i got a error 4105

I rolled back to a previous version of segatools and it runs fine as far as i can see

So minime version 8 with a pre version 3 segatools runs fine.

Just to let you know. The updates only have minor changes to Initial D Zero, it is mostly changes to other games using this as well.

 

Minime v008

Changelog:

Implement "Auras" in IDZ - I believe there was an issue with auras and how they worked saving onto the card? I am not 100% sure about this, but apparently it works with minime v008.

 

Segatools v003

Changelog: 

Add countermeasures for the DNS-spamming to ISP - This is related to those who were having issues with changing DNS as a way to fix their connection issue. So this helps alleviate the issue for some.

Add option for single-stick steering in IDZ - This is for those who were wanting to use 100% of the stick on gamepad so it would be 100% steering on the one side, instead of it splitting 50/50.

 

 

I currently have not tried these yet as I am still at work, but will try over the weekend.

 

@Zorvo If you are receiving the JVS error, that means something in your segatools.ini for the input section near the bottom half of it where you choose xinput and dinput for device controls. Something is setup incorrectly there. Are you using a gamepad or a wheel? The Cannot connect accounting error, could be a couple of things: Access to the game files is set as read-only: so you need to make sure it is not set as read-only. Or could be relation to networking issue, Can you confirm what your internal network looks like?

@gojirien The issue with the Directional stuff is it is hardcoded in the data files, so they need to pull that information out so that it can be assigned properly, i think the reasoning is because on wheels the D-pads inputs are not technically the same as how xinput takes them. So i think it is harder to implement that way. Unsure of when they can produce a change or be able to do this or if possible. I don't develop this but am trying to understand it.

In the meantime I believe that if you turn the wheel, it will react the same way of moving left and right, and going down if you pull it all the way over I think. I can't recall I have not touched my wheel for a bit.

Just plugged my Logitech g29 steering wheel, the D pad works and is recognized as menu buttons !

 

Edit : so it seems hardcoded yes, and is working on some steering wheels.

It took a combined effort from a lot of people to get this working and involves a fair amount of tweaking so I thought I'll put together a quick tutorial for those having issues.

 

Note: This currently works only on Nvidia video cards with AMD fix to come - I tested on my Nvidia GTX 1080Ti OC.

Step 1: Download MegaDownloader app from here: https://megadownloader.en.softonic.com and install it or extract files to your desktop.

Step 2: Download the latest game dump from the official thread below.

3. Launch the MegaDownloader app, copy the link address and click on Add URL, browse to where you want to save it and click on Start (leave all login settings default)

4. Once downloaded, extract the "SDDF_1.31.00" folder to the root of your C:\ drive so it should look like this: C:\SDDF_1.31.00

(Do not use the installed segatools and minime server files found in the downloaded package as I couldn't get them to work no matter what)

5. Download the PLUGINS.ZIP package from here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/7cp3ti
6. Go to C:\SDDF_1.31.00 and create a new folder named "appdata" so it should look like this: C:\SDDF_1.31.00\appdata

7. Extract contents of the minime.7z package to the root of your C drive so that it will look like: C:\minime

8. Extract contents found inside the idz directory located in the segatools.zip file (the one found in step 5) to C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\
Look for a file called segatools.ini and edit as follows:

9. Right-click on the SDDF_1.31.00 & minime folders one-by-one and under attributes - untick Read-only and hit Apply then OK 

10. Install all the Plugin Retridistributables found in the PLUGINS.ZIP package, e.g. vc_redist.x64.exe, vs_community.exe, Node-v12.13.0-x64.msi and opt to install all drivers

11. Go into the minime folder and right-lick on start.bat and choose Run as Administrator - if correct you should see the below - leave this open in the background do not close:
 

 app:switchboard HOST_EXT: 127.0.0.1 (Service host name sent to clients) +0ms
  app:switchboard HOST_INT: 0.0.0.0 (Bind address) +2ms
  app:switchboard Using default host names, change them from the .env file if necessary. +0ms
Startup OK

 

12. Go into the following directory C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\ and look for the inject.exe file, right-click and choose Properties > Compatibility and tick Run this program as Administrator > OK 

13. Go to the start.bat file found in the same location as the above C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\ and right-click then Run as administrator 

You will see a series of windows popup with security warnings to accept - choose yes to all and let it run in the background

 

14. The first run never works for me, after everything loads, you will see a black screen that many are experiencing - close all the windows including minime server

15. Go back to the inject.exe file mentioned in Step 12 and this time do the same and untick Run as Administrator 

16. Download the full-screen patch (you may need it later) courtesy of user Windows10xp8: https://mega.nz/#!RQthgAAS!R8KWvpkLqcG7PDJhRLPEhte6wNl9XpsuCcHfGjOe4y8

Copy the EXE to C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\

17. Now, hook up a USB Controller - I am use a XBOX 360 (Xinput0) joypad and make sure it is turned and detected by Windows

18. Go back to C:\minime\ and run the virtual server again by running start.bat as Administrator (FOR ME, THE GAME STILL RAN FINE WITHOUT THIS STEP SO IT MAY NOT BE NEEDED)

19. Finally, run C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\start.bat as normal no need for Administrator rights and it should load - wait for all the calibration and then press ALT+ENTER for full-screen mode & ESC to exit

If you cannot exit (like for me in many cases), press ALT+CTRL+DEL and manually end the Direct3D Window to close

 

I know there are nearly 20 steps to get this working but I wanted to break each one down to ensure everything is not missed. This was such a headache for many users including myself.

EDIT:.....if you are getting the loading error many people experiencing...do the following...

1) Make sure you follow steps 12-15 carefully and the files in the PLUGINS.ZIP file NOT the ones found in the original dump.

2) If you have a virtual DVD clone drive software, disable it by going into DEVICE MANAGER > DVD DISC DRIVES and right-click disable.

Dont put the start.bat in the sddf/app/package in admin mode, just run it. Worked for me.

Make sure you follow steps 10-14 carefully. Changing Read-Only properties is an imortant part.

Cannot tell which Windows version you are on but if you are on 7, there could be issues. 

If you are on Windows 10.

The first error on opening Start.bat from the mimime installation, looks like you are unable to access the package.json location, this could be that you might be missing some dependencies. Have you installed the LTS version of nodes.js and during the installation check box for Chocolatey/other tools to install as well. Could take a bit to install. When finished, make sure you also install the vc_redist_x64.exe, and vs_community.exe; then confirm the permissions on the files for minime folder. Right click, properties, change permissions to be not-read-only.

 

Please confirm that your folders&files in K:\SDFF_1.31.0\ are set to not-read-only. Hard to tell from screenshot. Run as administrator once with the start.bat in K:\SDFF_1.31.0\, you should get the .\inject.exe error and then run it normally and see if it gets the same issue?

That issue is still related to permission and possibly DNS issue. If I remember you changed your local network DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Depends on your network and how you are setup, if you are setup on:

Computer --> router --> Modem: You may have to change your settings on the Router to use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for DNS.

Computer -->Router/Modem(1 device that is both router and modem): You will need to change it on this device to use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. The new segatools might help this, but have heard mixed issues with it so this is one of the fixes.

check the folders inside SDFF_1.31.0 folder as I found 1 was srill read only untick it and working

so even if folders says they are not read only check them 1 at a time

It is possible, but doing it at top level should adjust it. Windows also always reverts the selection back to it when you apply the change. If you open the properties again, it will seem like the files are read-only again. It is how Windows does it. If it missed out on something, it could have been something edited or was copied into the folder prior to your change. But if it is working for you @segaoutrun123 great.

Ok finally got my game working after a lot of trouble with error 8008 and 8304. For those having similar trouble make sure you :

 

- Once you unticked your read only folders and applied them, go back to SDDF folder, app, package and make sure the start.bat is not in read only (mine stayed read only for some reason).

- Make sure all 3 files mentionned in firewall in sddf/app are allowed on yours.

- DONT run the start.bat in administator as it will make a inject error, run it normally even the first time.

- Running the inject files in administartor or not didnt change anything for me.

- Okay imporant part now and this what mess me up. I always had utorrent running in the background and it was causing trouble to the card saving. Once I quit utorrent, saves are now working fine.

 

I still need to get my wheel going but the game run and saves fines now with xinput. And getting the wheel running should be hard as I already have the value of my buttons on teknoparrot.

 

I'll report back once I get my T300RS alcantara working.
