Question though, when using a 360 controller what buttons are the strum bar? Or do you not need the strum bar when using a controller? Does this mean if I use a guitar controller that the strum bar is not needed and wont work properly?

This worked for me too and stopped game from staying on taskbar and to go fullscreen 1920x1080 thank you.  Generic controller 12 years old lol non branded except for uxp name on it with x360ce.   Windows 10 pro 1803 version 17134.648

Freezes sometimes at beginner screen when trying to visit store everytime but only an odd time when choosing a guitar.

Again @Mohkerz thanks for all you do.  Crashes were before i deleted ini

Could anyone upload the Xinputter.ini please as i deleted mine by mistake thank you.

Regarding the crashing, back when the GH:Arcade disc dump was found, a few of us in the GH community attempted to make the game files work with the GH3 exe, and one of the problems we had was that gaining a half bar of star power would crash the game upon trying to display the "tilt guitar to trigger star power" text, and if I remember correctly, either neutering that script or copying the equivalent script from GH3 should fix the crashing. Not sure if that's the problem here.

 

Also, I haven't actually downloaded this yet, but given that you mentioned a "dongle guy", I'm guessing this is a decrypted Arcade exe? If so, was just curious if this exe by itself would be usable on an actual cabinet without any qb mods. Would certainly be useful for any cabinet owner who doesn't have their dongle for whatever reason.

In the PLUGINS folder there is another folder called inactive. In that folder there is a file called Wammyfix.dll and Tiltfix.dll. Maybe these would help? I'm not sure how to use them though...

Just an update guys I was able to play all the way through a song that had crashed on me before after I unticked read only for the folder the game is in as well as the DATA and PLUGINS folders. Not sure if that's just coincidence or what.

Also something curious. Under Career, under the heading of "Getting the word out" there are 3 songs which freeze the game immediately when trying to select them

When you were young - The killers

Miss Murder - AFI

and The Seeker - The Who.

 

The strange thing is these songs don't appear in the list of songs you can enable/disable. Is it possible these were added in after the fact and this version doesnt have the data for those songs.

If this has GH3+ DLLs like tiltfix and whammyfix then this isn't decrypted GH:Arcade exe but GH3+ exe as modified by ExileLord. That explains why star power crashed like our earlier attempts at using GH3 exe. So what's up with the "dongle guy" lol

 

Edit: confirmed, the regular exe is identical to Exile's GH3+, the crashfix modifies one DWORD (not sure what the purpose is though). What's the purpose of the launcher? Edit: nm, figured out the nop'ing, and the launcher. Nice job on sticking that ini setting in Xinputter.ini lol

 

Nice work nonetheless (although if I can figure out the SP crash I'd happily send along a replacement qb file for you to package) but was really hoping for a real cracked Arcade exe, a version of the game that hasn't been tainted by SecuROM.

I was referring to the thanks at the end of your original post, no matter on that I was only joking lol. By SecuROM I meant the GH3 executable, while the Arcade exe is HASP protected that means that if one were to massage the key out of a dongle, they could decrypt the exe and get a clean one, and since they used HASP protection, SecuROM's usual obfuscation is not present. The guy behind GH3+ would probably be interested in looking at such a decrypted exe. I'll DM you

It works just fine now. Yeah I was just about to the same fix when you uploaded this. So you saved me time. I am trying to figure out a way to completely remove the "freeplay" popup, since start on the Xbox 360 xplorer and start on the Arcade is different. So it gets struck there. Might just remove the qbScript completely. or try to fix it to get back to main menu instead.

the game needs to activate the virtual memory of the windwows, but many emulators that I use need to be disabled, is there any way that Guitar Hero does not need the windows virtual memory?

x360kb is for keyboard as x360 controller emulation, here, keyboard inputs are already emulated through Xinputter.ini file.

Feel free to test and report if you success or fail with x360kb...

in the AspyrConfig.xml if you deactivate the graphics quality options to 0 it looks better, the shadows appear in the character selection screen and in the scenarios togheter with  some light effect, same as the arcade

Does anyone use the keyboard to play? I can’t for the life of me key anything to work other then the “enter” key which brings me to the insert coins screen. I can’t get into the test menu to switch to Freeplay.

 

Is there something I need to set in the xinputter.ini? Any other file changes I need to make? I see a couple of others appear to be having the same challenge in this thread.

 

maybe someone can post there working copy that is already set to Freeplay and works with there keyboard?

how  do we choose another song after we play one because it allows me to enter my name but then buttons done respond , also im getting crashes after selecting career mode when i select a song it crashes ive applied to 2 patches

To use guitars or controllers rename/delete xinput1_3.dll... Did you read this ? 

Special guitar settings mentionned is for x360ce, not for real devices.... 

 

Also to access freeplay settings, did you try the unlockmainmenu option in xinputter.ini file ? 

 

Then once again, what is your os all?

i'm using a ps3 controller through scp toolkit ... i use it for all pc gaming .

and yep i moved it from the folder .. to get he controller working ....

and i'm really not sure what triggers the crash ... as u see i tried a few tmes evertime it was in a different place ... so i'm not sure.

i'm thinking i would try to play the game with keyboard controls see if that would trigger the same error .

i just tried using the supplied xinput with keyboard and yep it crashed with same error in the log...
