It has something to do with the launcher exe. I had same problem with bishi bashi if you run  it from launcher joy2key doesnt hook but if you run it from the proper game.exe it works fine

Joy2key do not need hook something

If you use game direct just create a profile and minimize Joy2key with that profile selected.

If you use hyperspin+rocketlaung in rocketlaunch system profile, create a game profile for GH. Is that way I hava it working and direct the path to launch exe file (launch work great)

i got lucky and found someone in town with the pc version of this game so with xpadder the guitar works with starpower and saving scores but the start doesnt work but with the combinations needed to be pressed all the controls work perfectly thank u again

To those having trouble with controllers not working after trying EVERYTHING listed above...  Did you go into the xinputter.ini and disable your KB so you can use the controllers?

Hey I just noticed while my son was playing that beginner mode doesnt work for me, it plays like easy mode.  Beginner should make it so all you have to do is strum and not hit the fret notes.  Anyone get this working?  was there a setting i missed somewhere?  Cheers.

Strum is only availablewith real guitar. 

So follow x360ce instructions if you dont have one.

Any ideas why the game keeps crashing right in the middle of any song i pick? I installed the crashfix v3 and I'm not sure if that patch is made for this problem or just the starpower crash. Any suggestions would be great. By the way it is crashing when I'm NOT using star power. Thanks.

I can get It works on my gt1030 but It doesn't with an older Intel HD 4600...

 

It loads for 10seconds, but nothing get on screen (patched exe and run as admin)

I just installed the crash v4 patch and now the game runs perfectly.....thanks😀

Thanks for the reply.  I am using the real guitar (x-plorer by red octane, the white usb controller for xb360)  it works with the game just fine.  However, when using beginner mode it still has all the fretted notes coming down and plays like its in "easy mode".  However, it does indeed say beginner mode in the top corner, but you need to hit all the notes, not just strum.  If anyone figures out beginner mode please let me know, my children will thank you (as will I) .  Cheers!

I manually edit the registry with language and path and launched gha.exe

The game start in test mode and I can get able to start using a key combo....

Xbox360 guitars do work nice, also the power star...

Start menu is not unlocked so...

 

If I use your launcher it clean the registry and the game does not boot...

 

Any solution?

both launcher and gha executables... no way...

I tried to use with win7 compatibility mode too, no luck :|

I don't know where it fails, I manually created a reg file for fix that.

Is there a manual command line (cmd) to execute the unlockmainmenu and load the aspyr configuration file?

Ive played the arcade version several times and im pretty sure you cant adjust the speed...only the difficulty.

use the x360ce app to use the joystick it works fine for me in win10 it will update your older Xinput1_3.dll file then just map buttons as you like hope this helps

if u r running win 10 latest latest update that might be it .. because i had it running perfectly fine on win 10 - 1809 a couple months ago ...but after some windows updates now it wont' start ..as usual win 10 updates keep breaking stuff.

but it runs fine on my win 7 machine ... and i got a dual boot setup with win 10 -1803 and yep it runs fine on it ..
