[Tuto] OutRun 2 SP SDX: How to Install

Outrun 2 SP SDX (Lingbergh)

Works "fine" on Window$ 10 (1803) and TeknoParrot 1.0.0.125, with resolution fix applied.

outrun_2_sp_sdx_by_pooterman-dc801bz.png

Works fine out the box.

Executable file is disk0/Jennifer/Jennifer

Use this file to edit the Jennifer file to the appropriate resolution for your monitor.

http://www.emuline.org/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=3743

From the front page.

Outrun 2 SP DX does NOT run AMD  GPU based graphics cards, as far as I know there is no shaderfix.

Other fixes can be found on the TeknoParrot front page, just below the OutRun 2 SP SDX game icon.

This one is from the emuline discord channel, thanks @jets

Some extra information, thanks to @jonathanhooper

All you need to do is press view change on course select  it shows it down the bottom when selecting track.":P

Enjoy

I hope that this tutorial helps other people out.

It takes you a few moments to read, but it took me all night to figure it out.

When you get the game working, thanks to this "manual", please give a thanks at this post.

:very-good:

And a BIG thanks for the people who originally uploaded the games, we all can enjoy (if you do it right) !!!

And of course all the people involved in, the game loaders and JVS I/O emulation applications we use, and all the people I "forgot".

Also look at the posts below, some members / people add helpful information, thank them also .....

hello,

I followed the tuto provided by linglang for OutRun 2 Arcade and everytihng was working on my PC with Windows 10 Pro 64bits and TeknoParrot v1.0.0.122.

I've played the game several times without any problem but after installing Mario Kart GP DX (Namco System ES3 A) and installing the needed directX Runtimes I'm getting an error that says: "Unimplemented Sound Emulation API" and at the end TeknoParrot exit the game...

I can´t play the game now... I dont know what to do...

I have updated TeknoParrot to the last version 1.0.0.178 trying to fix the problem but with no luck...

Can anyone help me please fixing this error?

Thank you in advance

Finnally I fixed the error:  "Unimplemented Sound Emulation API" installing: Visual C++ runtimes, an easy pack to install all-in-One

I already had installed: DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) and DirectX SDK (June 2010) but it was not enought for the game to work.

Only when I installed "Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One" from here: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/ the game started working.

Victory!!! :)

I also made a "backup" :ddl: of my Windows 10 Pro 64bits with all the necessary files with: Acronis True Image...

Like that if I damage my O.S. I can reinstall it in a few minutes...:very-good:

Now Let's Play OutRun Arcade!!!:fiesta:

Hello @xtremebuga i'll try to explain what i've done!:)

I followed the guide here on emuline by: linglang and the setup help from TeknoParrot website.

Thanks to: linglang, Reaver, NTAuthority, avail, nzgamer41, Nezarn, nibs, Boomslangnz, Pooterman, all Patreons, and all community members who support this project.

I recently assembled a PC just to play with Emulators and Loaders. It´s the One I have in my profile

1) First I installed Windows 10 Pro 64bits and all the necessary Drivers (Chipset, Audio, Graphic card... etc... etc...)

2) Then I installed TeknoParrot v1.0.0.140 on my C: drive and updated it to the last version

3) Then I installed

DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
Link here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

DirectX SDK (June 2010)
Link here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6812

Visual-C-Runtimes-All-in-One-Oct-2018 (Recommended to install and Very important if you have the error: "Unimplemented Sound Emulation API")

Found the info on TeknoParrot WebSite: https://teknogods.github.io/ on the compatibility menu at the end of the page:

Setup - TeknoParrot - Extra Recommended Steps:

It's a good idea to install DirectX 9 runtimes.
Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

It's a good idea to install Visual C++ runtimes, an easy pack to install all
Link: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/

4) I Created a directory called "Games\Sega_Lindbergh" on my D: drive (d:\Games\Sega_Lindbergh) where i put all my Lindbergh games

Examples:

d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\OR2\
d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\HOT4\
d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\etc etc

5) I downloaded Outrun 2 SP SDX (Sega Lingbergh Yellow) from Emuline and all the patches/Fixes

6) Extracted OR2.7z with 7zip to d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\OR2\

7) Extracted "outrun2_nv_shaderfix_Jennifer"to a temp dir on c:

It will look like this: "c:\Temp\outrun2_nv_shaderfix_Jennifer\Jennifer\shader\fs\"

Then I copied all the files from "fs" directory on drive C to: d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\OR2\disk0\Jennifer\shader\fs\

I always use Total Commander to copy files bacause it have two parrallel windows and its a very good tool to copy, move and replace files.

Total Commander Website: https://www.ghisler.com/

Download Section: https://www.ghisler.com/download.htm

8) I extracted OR2SPDLXResolutionPatcher.rar to d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\OR2\disk0\Jennifer and executed the file: OR2SPDLXResolutionPatcher.exe to choose my resolution.

Then I patched the file jennifer on d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\OR2\disk0\Jennifer\ with the resolution 1920x1080. A file named "Jennifer_patched" was created.

The file has no extension but its the executable one.

9) Then I run TeknoParrotUi.exe.

If you receive any popups to that updates are available, go ahead and click Update on each.

10) At the top left of the window, I clicked the hamburger icon, and choosed Settings.

11) On the settings you can setup your wheel axis settings or Gamepad (I use a Wireless Xbox 360 Gamepad) then I Clicked Save settings, and then Back.

12) I Clicked the Hamburger menu again, and clicked Add Game.
I Choosed OutRun 2 game from the list and clicked ADD GAME.
With the game selected from the Home menu, I clicked GAME SETTINGS.

13) I Clicked the Game Location box to choose where the appropriate game executable is. Then I selected the file: Jennifer_Patched on the following directory: d:\GAMES\Sega_Lindbergh\OR2\disk0\Jennifer\

14) Setup other options to your liking and click Save settings, then Back. Generally for an Xbox controller you want to select XInput, and everything else leave un-checked.

15) Finally, click CONTROLLER SETUP. Click on each space for each button you want to set, then press the button you want on your controller. When finished, click Save settings, then Back.

Its Done. Now you only have to launch the game.:very-good:

Note: If you have a different directory structure you need to adapt my guide to your files locations.

i have followed all info above and got the game working , but weirdly magnified

I am running windows 10 and latest TP

I have tried all resolution patches and shader fix for nvidia

The game runs firstly full screen but condensed into about a quarter of the screen,

Then when the race starts , its as if the screen is magnified with half of the screen not being shown

I cannot seem to get it running full screen , with all screen visible

has anyone else expreienced this , I have many other TP games running fine

TIA

Posté(e) (modifié)

@ktmspark

It could be your resolution patches do not work correctly, I have no idea how and why.

The game normally runs at a very low resolution (640x480 ?)

So upscaling it, will not work properly for some games, MKDX for example, runs fine on a high resolution in game, but cut scenes and such are only visible at a lower resolution at the top left corner.

So, it is not a problem of how you try to run the game at a higher resolution, it is probably the patch you are using, and yes other people also got that problem.

Lower your Windows resolution, before you start the game ?

Hey man, I had the same problem as you. Everyhthing was zoomed in on my 3440 x 1440 resolution monitor. Turns out my DPI in display settings was set to 125%. Set it to default 100% and that will fix the zoom glitch problem. now i can see it full screen and its awesome! good luck

How do I set up controls for car movement? Control menu in TP has only Wheel Axis option with no + or minus options for left and right

unfortunately it does not do true ultra wide screen, it just stretches the game. Only PC version of the game does ultrawide

Outrun is missing 3D textures. Apart from that, the game runs fine.

Running latest version of TP, Nvidia 1050. I have run the game with the original Jennifer executable and with several patched ones.

I downloaded the game from multiple sources but the problem remains.

All other games run fine, but OR has never shown 3D textures.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

it works for me, you have to tick the box -Enable amdfix- in game setting and it works perfectly

It didn't work for me, did it work for anyone else with AMD?

Nope not working for me, still white screen.

AMDFix has been ticked but same result.

Is there anything we should be doing manually or do we need a specific dump ?

Update: Sorry it is working didn't apply the AMDshader fix from the homepage Duh !

Just need to figure Rambo out now, only good thing about this lockdown is that it's giving me chance to get the TeknoParrot games working !

Fixed it. Apparently the loader wasn’t using the NVIDIA GPU for this game. Now OR2 works, and ABC and HOTD4 as well!

Use static IP addresses on PC example 192.168.1.X where X is 1 or 2 for the left or right cabinet

Check Windows firewall

Go into OR2 service menu and set what is needed, it is pretty simple

I made the settings "LINK ID : 1 - TOTAL MACHINE 2 - GROUP 1" for computer 1 and I set it's static ip to 192.168.1.1
and I made the settings "LINK ID : 2 - TOTAL MACHINE 2 - GROUP 1" for computer  2 and I set it's static ip to 192.168.1.2

when i start the game on both computer and both of them stuck on  "CHECK NETWORK NOW" screen.

192.168.1.X was a example

Open a dos box and type (Windows key+R, type cmd)

ipconfig /all

It shows you your local network adresses

Check you gateway / router address, and assign static IP adressses to your PC's in the same range

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2(Preferred) < in same range as gateway
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1  < could be different
